Midsummer Thoughts

I’m very sensitive right now to our subtle seasonal changes here in Los Angeles, especially since I know I will be moving to another climate soon!  The days are noticeably longer, we are having our May/June mix of heat, sun, cool weather, and winds, the birds outside my window sing loudly over the traffic, the jacaranda trees show their lovely blossoms, the green hills are just beginning to show hints of the soft brown they will be in late summer. We are moving into the season of fullness, of manifestation, of action.

In our cycle of the year, the Goddess is now a woman, lover and mother, bringing forth growing life, creating new things in the world.  As the summer sun heats us up, we pulse with passion, we swell with creativity – with babies, with art, with writing, with crafts, with ideas. Summer’s hot energy fuels our desire, our rage, our passionate will to create the world we want. Just as the cool ocean mists calm our triple digit days, we can work to focus and use our fiery energies for our own and the world’s benefit – to create rather than destroy, to stand up for ourselves and our desires, to support each other as creators, as lovers, as birthers of change and of new life. We can honor each other as embodiments of Goddess as we mother, love, and make manifest in the world.

May the heat, wind, and fog of our California summer bless you with earth, air, fire and water as the Goddess dances through us to enjoy the luscious joys of summer.

And the seasons, they go round and round . . .
